Claire started her career as an actuarial consultant in Singapore in 2000 working for a small consulting firm where she worked on a number of projects for both life and general insurance companies in the Asian markets. After a few years of varied work Claire moved to AXA Insurance Singapore joining the general insurance actuarial team. For the next 7 years Claire progressed from a junior role to managing the actuarial team in Singapore and also as the deputy actuarial head of the company’s operations in Asia, specifically looking after other actuarial teams in Thailand and Indonesia. With this role also came direct exposure to the CEO in Singapore involving monthly meetings on the company’s reserve status, monthly sales committee meetings, motor committee meetings as well as presentations to the board of directors. Frustrated by the lack of other actuarial opportunities in Singapore and realising that there were few recruiters in the market with specialised actuarial knowledge, Claire saw an opportunity to use her skills in a unique way to help other actuaries. At the beginning of 2009 Claire joined DW Simpson to cover recruitment in the actuarial markets in both Asia and Australia. Claire holds a first class degree in Mathematics from the University of Liverpool, and is a member of the Institute of Actuaries in the UK. |
